Lotus Embers want you to have the best experience with our candles. To ensure that, we ask that you take great care when burning your candle, by following some basic rules outlined below:

Lighting your candle for the first time

  • When lighting the candle for the first time, burn the wax until it melts to a full pool. A full pool is when the wax melts across the entire surface.

  • This will avoid tunneling and will help to create an even burn.

  • This can take 2-4 hours of burn time.

Trimming the wick

  • Trim the wick to ¼ of an inch before each burn.

    • Our wicks do not require a tool to trim, simply pinch the wick after the candle has cooled.

  • Trimming the wick will prevent sooting and mushrooming

    • If soot forms on the inside of the jar, extinguish the candle, wait for it to cool and wipe with a clean damp cloth, trim the wick and relight.

  • Avoid any debris inside of candle

  • Keep wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches any debris

Extinguishing your candle

  • Considering using a candle snuffer to extinguish your candle

  • If candle begins to smoke or flames becomes to high

  • This is an indication that the candle is not burning properly

  • Let the candle cool, trim the wick and then relight

  • Be sure to check for drafts before-relighting

Storing candles

  • Be sure to replace candle top once cooled

  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight

  • Keep in cool, dry place

  • Remove any debris from candle

Never burn candle all the way down, candle should be burned down to no less than ½ inch of wax left inside of the jar.
